The Shannon Foundation,
founded in 1990, is a non-for-profit corporation under Dutch law chartered for
the advancement of the Information- and Communication Theory and its
applications and sciences in all their branches by, among other means, making
grants, endowment of university chairs, publishing books and conference
proceedings, and holding conferences.
The Shannon Foundation conferences
program was initiated in 1990 to further small, leading edge conferences. It is
administered by a proactive committee which identifies new areas, recruits
chairs, monitors existing series, and which welcomes unsolicited proposals.
Some 15 conferences and workshops have been held with attendance generally in
the range of 50 to 150. Conferences are intensive and generally last one to
three days. They are held in Europe and Japan. The conference program's goal is
to be self supporting. The current chairman is Prof. Dr. Han A.J. Vinck.
The Shannon Foundation Publishers
publishes books and Conference Proceedings. A list of available books and
proceedings can be found
